Oh no he didn't! The U.S. Senate seat held by the Kennedy family has been taken by Republican State Senator Scott Brown (former Cosmo sexiest man in America, you be the judge). As of two months ago, Brown was behind Democratic nominee Martha Coakley by as many as 20 points. In the face of healthcare, and other reforms, the Brown campaign was able to turn a lot of national attention to the campaign. A win by Brown gives Senate Republicans a pivotal 41st vote in the Senate, shattering the Democrat's filibuster-proof majority. Brown supproters cheered through the night and held up signs like, "DC, WAS THAT LOUD ENOUGH?" Democrats are in a blame mode this morning and it is unclear what effect this will have on House Democrats, many of whom will face tough campaigns in states much less, "blue" than Massachusetts.
